Yan Yean Cemetery Chapel

This stone, concrete and timber building of contemporary design sits beautifully within its surroundings. The memorial chapel was design by Orbit Solutions and has won the Building Design Association of Victoria’s Building Design of the Year 2007 Award and was generously donated by Gordon and Evelyn Clements.  Its gently curving roof lines reflect the rolling hills to the west, and the sheltered areas convey a sense of serenity which frame the mountains of the Great Dividing Range to the north.

It was created as a non-denominational chapel for services and quiet reflection. It is a bridge from the older existing cemetery at Yan Yean to the newly acquired section.

The cemetery is unable to allow catering of any type inside or outside the chapel precinct, however located in the grounds is a gazebo which can be used for this purpose, which does not require bookings, there are public toilets located near the gazebo, including a accessible toilet.

Chapels Features:

  • Seating for between 70 Guests with Additional standing room
  • Audio visual systems
  • Floor to ceiling glass windows, with clear picturesque panoramic views
